Anesthesiology ensures the quality and safety of the medical care provided in the application of anesthesia, intensive therapy, in emergency situations and pain management, in the entire perioperative process, as well as in many other situations outside and within hospitals, when the most vulnerable are involved patients. From this perspective, the Society of Anesthesiology and Reanimation from the Republic of Moldova (SARRM) opted for the implementation of new measures, which would lead to the improvement of patient safety. Thus, in 2009, SARRM supported the joint call of the European Board of Anesthesiologist ( EBA) and the European Society of Anaesthesiology (ESA) regarding the improvement of patient safety, to establish what are the recent achievements, as well as what needs to be done for this purpose. As a result, in June 2010, the Helsinki Declaration on Patient Safety in Anesthesia was signed.
